Israeli and Sephardic music spiced with jazz

Shakshuka has had the privilege to collaborate with many different people over the past 10+ years including musicians, producers, organizations and clergy.  The result has been some great relationships and exposure to a variety of music and influences.  Following are recordings from some of our projects along with short video excerpts from a live concert.

It’s All Relative, 2007

In our latest effort Shakshuka expands and stretches out with our expanded family (literally) of musicians (Listen)

ad halom, 2001

A studio recording which gave us the opportunity to collaborate with some fabulous musicians including Paul Wertico, multi-Grammy winner and former drummer of the Pat Metheny group.  This also kicked off a great relationship with producer, musician and friend Stuart Rosenberg (no relation) and Mike Konopka, a fabulous engineer with whom we have had the privilege to work on multiple projects.

Shakshuka has had the opportunity to participate in the role of leading Friday Night musical Kabbalat Shabbat services at a number of both reform and conservative synagogues.  This has truly been a blessing for us. We did a recording of the service we do at Congregation B’nai Tikvah (where Rachel also serves as the Ritual Director).

We have collaborated with many cantors, clergy and musicians.  We recorded and contributed a cut on this Conservative movement Passover CD with Hazzans Steve Stoehr and Alan Smolen.
